What could be the announcement to end all announcements – at least for this week – Marcus “ThorZaIN” Eklof joins Team Evil Geniuses!
EG has earned the reputation of breaking new grounds now and then and announcing them with fan faire but you have to watch their unwilling announcement of today’s announcement. It’s funny and uh… genius. Not pure, but genius nonetheless.
Thor is a Terran player from Sweden who will reside in Korea, and who will represent a North American team – ah the world of eSports. He’s considered by some as one of the top foreigner players in the world and is known for his slow and methodical way toward victory. Legend has it that someone from Korea who was watching one of his matches said that Thor was slowly killing his opponent with a spoon, thus earning him the moniker, Spoon Killer, lol.
He was originally with Online Kingdom solely as a Warcraft III competitor (there’s still WC3 competition? hehe) but later joined a Dutch team, Praetoriani , which indicated his switch to Starcraft II entirely. His last team before the announcement was Mouseports.
Thor will be training in Korea at the SlayerS House alongside EG.PuMa, EG.JYP, MMA and BoxeR. We’re hoping that he can spend some time at the EG lair sometime as well. He’s scheduled to compete at the MLG Anaheim in June coming from his big championship win at the DreamHack Open:Stockholm.

Thor was recently quoted, saying that he was having second thoughts about “continuing pursuing a career as a progamer. I want to get an education, and I can’t wait forever.” EG proposed to him. This was all before his DreamHack win. We hope the future will be prosperous for both Marcus and EG.
With the assimilation of one of the most talented SC2 player in the world into Team EG’s Starcraft Division, there’s only one good thing to say about it – genius.
